RJD Associates (North West) Limited are pleased to announce that we have been appointed as CDM Principal Designer on a project that involves constructing a part-2 and part-3 storey building to provide a 78-bedroom care home facility along with associated infrastructure and external works. The site of the works is situated on land off Bartons Road in Havant, and the new structure will be formed in a H-shape with two household wings and a central service hub, where both the main entrance and service entrance will be located. In addition to the 78no bedrooms, additional facilities within the building will include a commercial kitchen, commercial laundry, plant room, lounges, dining and kitchenette, sluice, assisted toilet and bathroom facilities and office accommodation at lower ground floor level, lounges, resident amenity space, dining and kitchenettes, reception, offices, sluice, assisted toilet and bathroom facilities and hair salon at upper ground floor level, and lounges, resident amenity space, dining and kitchenettes, sluice, assisted toilet and bathroom facilities, staff facilities and storage at first floor level, with associated circulation space on all floors.

Key health and safety considerations on this project include site clearance and enabling works including protecting existing trees and habitat, managing potential interfaces with the Client’s undertakings if a marketing suite is formed whilst construction works are still ongoing, fire safety, preventing unauthorised access to the construction site, traffic management, temporary works and general buildability considerations including spatial requirements for plant and any associated oversailing restrictions.
