RJD Associates (North West) Limited are very pleased to announce that we have been appointed as CDM Principal Designer on a prestigious local development project that involves converting and refurbishing the landmark Newtown Mill building within Burnley town centre into teaching space and an enterprise zone for UCLAN, in conjunction with public realm improvements to the Sandygate. The redevelopment of Newtown Mill forms the next stage in creating a thriving canalside university campus within Burnley’s historic Weavers’ Triangle area with this project following on from the nearby Sandygate student accommodation development that we provided CDM Principal Designer services on.

Key health and safety considerations on this project include undertaking works within the envelope of the existing structure, the methodology and sequencing of the reroofing of the existing building, interfaces between construction operations and the surrounding environment, and the post-completion access and maintenance strategy for the various areas where work at height will be required. RJD Associates look forward to working alongside the project team during both the pre-construction and construction phases to ensure a successful delivery of the scheme.
