RJD Associates (North West) Limited are pleased to announce that we have been appointed as CDM Principal Designer on a project that involves relocating depot services to a site on Common Bank Industrial Estate in Chorley that is currently occupied by 4no industrial buildings along with associated hardstanding areas. The 2no units within the west section of the site will be demolished during an initial phase of works with a separate CDM Principal Contractor appointed, to allow for forming the external areas required for the depot relocation to this site. The retained units are noted as Building 1 and Building 2, with Building 1 located in the northeast section of the site and Building 2 located in the southeast section.

The works to Buildings 1 and 2 include increasing the size of the first floor areas, altering external openings, recladding the existing roofs, forming new office and toilet accommodation, and installing M&E services including PV panels at roof level. External works include earthworks to form the new ground levels across the site, constructing a retaining wall to the south boundary, forming parking areas for staff vehicles and operational vehicles, forming materials storage, equipment storage, refuelling and skip areas, forming drop off and collection areas and associated circulation space, constructing foul and surface water drainage systems and installing attenuation systems.

Key health and safety considerations on this project include site establishment and enabling works, managing potential interfaces with adjacent properties, preventing unauthorised access to the construction site, asbestos removal, demolition works, fire safety, traffic management, temporary works, buildability considerations including restricted access and working space within the site demise and working on the existing roof structures.

RJD Associates look forward to working alongside the project team to ensure a successful delivery of this project.
