HSE to start charging for their time under ‘fee-for-fault’ legislation
From April 2012 the HSE will be charging for their time if dutyholders are found to be in material breach of health and safety law. The HSE will recover costs from the start of the intervention where the material breach was identified up to the point where the matter is corrected and the HSE intervention concludes. Whilst the final costs are yet to be published it is anticipated that an hourly rate of £124.00 will be charged for any time that HSE Inspectors spend identifying and helping remedy minor breaches.
